The Southern Bicycle League presents the 35th Annual
|
About the Wilson 100: The Wilson 100 is named after Scott Wilson, one of the past Presidents who made tremendous contributions to improving cycling in the Atlanta area. He died in his late 30’s of cancer. Optional donations in honor of Scott Wilson are focused in two areas, the Southern Bicycle League’s Advocacy Fund or Project Adventure Kids (PAK). The SBL Advocacy Fund helps promote and provide better cycling and transportation alternatives in Metro Atlanta for 2008 and beyond. Secondly, a portion of the profits are designated to a charitable non-profit (501C3) organization. For 2008 that designation goes to Project Adventure Kids in Covington GA! PAK helps kids move past their family problems, for which 85% don't have families to go home to, and to have a voice & learn to be responsible for their actions. PAK teaches kids to talk about feelings, take care of each other, and be a team. Although education, boarding, and counseling is funded in part by taxes at PAK, activities and recreational sports are largely possible through private funding. In 2008 PAK added 40 bicycles to their sports recreation program! Wow! The SBL is proud to support the Project Adventure Kids Organization, and to designate funding to maintain and further develop their bicycling recreational program, and to introduce Georgia's Youth to the sport of cycling as a confidence building and life changing experience! |
